About
My name is David Caddy. I'm an ever-hopeful Richmond Tigers supporter and independent developer based in Melbourne, Victoria.
If you’re looking to build an app, please get in touch.
Since 2010 I've owned and operated a small business, Armchair Engineering, which remains focused on building quality applications for iOS, Android and Mac.
Between 2011-2015 I studied robotics and mechatronics at Swinburne University of Technology. After graduating I landed at Bosch Australia, where I spent two and a half years as a "software engineer" working mainly on IoT (Internet of Things) projects within the agriculture and automotive sectors, before properly striking out on my own as a full-time indie.
I'm a big fan of podcasts, with a few of my favourites being the Accidental Tech Podcast, Under the Radar, Core Intuition, Cortex, Robots Podcast, The Skeptics Guide to the Universe and of course Hello Internet.
I spend much of my time in Xcode or Android Studio on my 2017 13" Retina MacBook Pro, usually listening to one of the aforementioned podcasts or very possibly some smooth jazz. Most of my design work is done in the excellent Sketch 3, although Pixelmator gets a run every now and then, depending on the task at hand.
I’m an amateur tea enthusiast, with my favourite blends including Ahmad's English Tea No. 1 and Madura's Earl Grey and Green Tea & Jasmine.
